O'Leno State Park just north of High Springs. It was a CCC camp during the early 30s.
The State Park is the former town of Leno which had a water powered grist mill on the Santa Fe River.
We were impressed with what the CCC did in 9 years. After CCC, many of the youth served in WWII
Many of the building constructed by the CCC are still standing.
They are available to be rented for family reunions, church retreats etc.
Within the buildings are historical artifacts and photos.
There are over 20 miles of hiking trails with a swing bridge over the Santa Fe as the starting/ending point.
The park is full of some of the tallest longleaf pines we have ever seen.
Luna found many interesting smells.
We followed the Santa Fe River until its end, at least for several miles.
Then the river goes underground for 3 miles before it continues it path to the Suwannee.
The river basin is also filled with a lot of cypress knees.
Lake Tobesofkee Macon
Next was Claystone Park on Tobesofkee Lake near Macon GA
Micah, Yoshi and Jasmine came down for the evening and some fun Tuesday
Some Filet mignon, grilled asparagus and fruit plate were the perfect meal.
Other than seeing Micah and Yoshi the purpose was for us to get Jasmine while they vacationed to Maine and PEI.
After dinner we walked to a butterfly garden at the park.
We finished the evening with 'smores' made from a waffle cone with marshmallows and chocolate chips.
Enjoyed the inflatable kayak for some fun on the lake.
Even though it was 85 degrees at 09:00 PM,a campfire with Bobbi's smores seemed like a good idea.
